1962 Topps Near-Complete Set (582/598)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,252

20% Ex-Mt (including some Nr/Mt and Nr/Mt-Mt), 60% Ex, 18% Vg-Ex, and 2% lesser (including a few with color added). Extremely attractive near-complete set of 1962 Topps consisting of 582 of 598 cards. Missing only sixteen cards for completion (#5 Koufax, 28, 135, 159, 398, 455, 471, 475, 497, 524, 530, 537, 575, 585, 593, and 595). The 1962 Topps set has a well-deserved reputation for being the era's most condition-sensitive issue. The flush-to-the-border wood-grain design of 1962 Topps makes cards from this set particularly susceptible to wear. Eight cards are graded and encapsulated by PSA. Keys: #1 Maris (Ex+), 10 Clemente (Vg-Ex+), 18 Mantle/Mays (Vg-Ex), 25 Banks (Ex), 30 Mathews (Vg-Ex), 45 Robinson (Vg), 50 Musial (98/2 T/B, otherwise Ex+), 53 AL HR Ldrs (1/99 L/R, otherwise Ex-Mt), 70 Killebrew (Vg-Ex+), 73 Fox (Vg-Ex+), 100 Spahn (Vg-Ex), 140 Ruth/Gehrig (Ex), 150 Kaline (Ex), 199 Perry RC (Ex+), 200 Mantle (tiny touches of color added at the extreme corner tips, otherwise Ex-Mt), 300 Mays (PSA EX-MT 6), 310 Ford (Ex), 313 Maris IA (Ex), 318 Mantle IA (Ex), 320 Aaron (Vg-Ex+), 340 Drysdale (Ex), 350 Robinson (Vg-Ex+), 360 Berra (Ex), 387 Brock RC (98/2 T/B, otherwise Ex+), 394 Aaron AS (Ex), 395 Mays AS (Ex), 401 Maris/Cepeda (Vg-Ex), 425 Yastrzemski (Ex), 471 Mantle AS (Ex), 500 Snider (Vg-Ex+), 505 Marichal (Ex), 544 McCovey SP (Ex+), 591 McDowell RC (Ex-Mt+), 592 Bouton RC (Ex-Mt), 594 Uecker (PSA NM 7), 596 Pepitone RC (Ex-Mt). Other Graded Cards: NM-MT 8: #476, 518, and 531. NM 7: #503, 542, and 573. This is an outstanding mid-grade near-complete set of 1962 Topps, particularly for this very condition-sensitive issue. Total: 582 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $2,252
