1951 Bowman High-Grade Collection (25) Including Stars
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $2,370
Presented is a high-grade collection of twenty-five 1951 Bowman baseball cards consigned directly by the family of the original owner. This is a small but attractive collection of cards, almost all appearing to be pack-fresh and displaying few if any signs of handling over the past sixty years. We have selected three cards to be graded and encapsulated by SGC. The collection consists of the following: #10 Schoendienst (Vg), 181 Stengel (Nr/Mt), 182, 183, 184, 185, 186 Ashburn (Ex), 217, 230, 231, two 232 Fox RC (NM/MT 88 and EX/NM+ 82), two 233 Durocher (NM/MT 88 and Nr/Mt+), two 234, 244, 245, 246, 247, 248, 249, 250, 251, and 252. The ungraded cards in this collection range in grade from Nr/Mt to NrMt-Mt (two cards have small wax stains on the reverse). The wax stains, common on 1951 Bowmans, are entirely responsible for the technical grade of EX/NM+ on the Fox RC despite its appearance as Nr/Mt-Mt. The equivalent SMR value for just the three graded cards (factoring in the EX/NM+ Fox at the lower whole-grade level) is $795. This is an exceptionally attractive group of cards from this very popular Bowman set. Total: 25 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $2,370
