1933 R305 Tattoo Orbit Ivy Andrews SGC NM/MT 88
Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $593
Graded NM/MT 88 by SGC. Extremely high grade example of Ivy Andrews of the Boston Red Sox from the 1933 R305 Tattoo Orbit set. Andrews is listed in guides as a "short print" and has long had the reputation of being one of the key scarcities of the 1933 Tattoo Orbit Gum set, ever since a huge discovery in the mid 1970s of 500+ high-grade R305 Tattoo Orbits, at the famous Renninger's Flea Market in Pennsylvania, was found to include only a few Andrews cards. Almost all high-grade R305 examples in the hobby (including probably this one!) originate from this long-forgotten historic find. Striking example with bold colors, snow-white borders, exceptional centering, and four sharp corners. Bright and clean, both front and back. This is an extraordinary card in ultra high grade from this unusual and scarce 1930s set. Reserve $400. Estimate $800+. SOLD FOR $593
