1933 R319 Goudey #160 Lou Gehrig SGC EX/NM 80

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $3,259

Graded EX/NM 80 by SGC. Bright and clean example of one of the most popular of all Lou Gehrig cards, and one of the most classic of all 1930s bubble-gum cards. This is an exceptional card with brilliant colors and snow-white borders. Centered slightly to the right (approximately 70/30). The corners show only the slightest hints of wear under close inspection. The reverse of the card is extremely clean with bold green print. This card is one of the highlights from an original-owner Goudey set consigned to this auction, with the Ruths and Gehrigs offered as individual lots due to their exceptional condition and value (all submitted by REA). Universally recognized as one of card collecting's all-time classics, this is a tremendous example of one Lou Gehrig's most important and highly prized baseball cards. The equivalent SMR value in the assigned grade is $3,250. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $3,259
