1889 N29 Allen & Ginter Buck Ewing

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $830

Graded GOOD 2 by PSA. Very attractive example of Hall of Famer Buck Ewing from the 1889 N29 Allen & Ginter Second Series World Champions set. Ewing is the key card and the only Hall of Famer in the set. This is a tremendous example, far superior than suggested by the technical grade. All four corners are sharp with only light wear to the bottom right. The card is bright and clean, both front and back, with Ewing's perfectly focused portrait standing out brilliantly against the snow-white background. The card is downgraded due to a slight paper tear extending from the reverse bottom border to the center of the card, consistent with removal from a scrapbook. Still, as can easily be seen, the card presents exceptionally well, appearing far stronger than its technical grade. The N29 Buck Ewing is one of the most famous of all nineteenth-century baseball cards and is widely recognized as one of Buck Ewing's most important cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+.
