1921 E121 American Caramel (Series of 80) High-Grade PSA Collection (12) - All Highest Graded!

Starting Bid - $2,000, Sold For - $2,963

Presented is an EXTREMELY impressive collection of twelve ultra high-grade cards from the E121 American Caramel "Series of 80" set - each the highest-graded example in the Universe! - highlighted by Hall of Famers Harry Heilmann and Urban Faber. American Caramel sets from this era have always been appreciated by collectors for their simple design and outstanding player selection. This assembly, as noted, is remarkable in that each card is professionally graded by PSA and stands as the highest graded example on record with none higher. To put the condition of this lot in proper perspective: Of the 1,246 examples evaluated by PSA to date, only fifteen cards grade NM-MT 8 - eight of which are included in this group - and only two cards grade NM-MT+ 8.5 (both of which are included in this group). No card has ever graded MINT 9 or GEM MINT 10 from this set. Ten cards from this collection exist as the only example graded at its respective level while Bagby and Faber each have one peer. PSA Condition Report: NM-MT+ 8.5 (2 cards): Mamaux and Severeid. NM-MT 8 (8 cards): Bagby, Faber/white uniform (HOF), Gowdy, Holke, Jacobson, Johnston, Lavan, and Peckinpaugh. NM+ 7.5 (1 card): Wingo. NM 7 (1 card): Heilmann (HOF). This is an exceptional collection, representing nearly ten percent of a complete set, in unparalleled high grade. This remarkable collection would make a substantial contribution to the assembly of the finest ultra high-grade set in the world or make a very significant contribution to the upgrading of ANY E121 American Caramel Series of 80 set. The total SMR value is $4,550 (the three half-grades have been calculated at the lower whole-grade level). Total: 12 cards. Reserve $2,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $2,963
