1909 E102 Anonymous "Set of 25" Honus Wagner SGC EX/NM 80 - Highest Graded!
Starting Bid - $2,000, Sold For - $7,110
Graded EX/NM 80 by SGC. Highest-graded example on the combined SGC and PSA population reports! This rare E102 "Set of 25" candy card features the legendary Honus Wagner in a classic batting pose. This example is one of two batting-pose cards graded at this impressive level by SGC (two more cards, graded EX/NM 80, are listed but not classified by pose, so they may or may not be the batting variety). The manufacturer of E102 is unknown. The batting pose of Wagner on this card is identical to that found in several rare sets of the era, including T216 Kotton Tobacco and E101 "Set of 50." This is a very striking card. Bright and crisp, with bold colors, flawless registration, and excellent centering. Clean front and back, with no creases and four strong corners displaying only light hints of wear under close inspection. The back provides a checklist of the 25 cards in the set. In 1909, Wagner led the league in every major batting category, including batting average, on-base percentage, total bases, and RBIs. This is a magnificent ultra high-grade example of one of Honus Wagner's most classic cards, issued when he was "King of the Diamond." Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000+. SOLD FOR $7,110
