1909-1911 T206 Walter Johnson Glove Shows - Black Lenox Back
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $7,703
Graded GOOD 30 by SGC. Walter Johnson (glove shows) from the T206 White Border with rare Lenox advertising reverse. This is one of only five examples graded by either SGC or PSA with this desirable front and back combination. According to T206Resource.com, the Lenox back is the eighth most difficult advertising reverse (out of thirty-nine) within the set. The offered example was found by REA when we checked the backs (as we always do) of an old-time near-complete T206 set consigned to this auction. (The balance of the near-set is offered elsewhere in this auction.) Clean, crisp image with bold colors, perfect centering, and light, even wear to the corners. A single horizontal crease across the cap is responsible for the low technical grade. The important advertising reverse is boldly printed with very light soiling present. This is an extremely attractive example that would make an outstanding addition to any T206 rare back or Walter Johnson collection. Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $7,703
