1887 N284 Buchner Gold Coin Tobacco Hall of Famer SGC-Graded Collection Including Cap Anson (3)
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,422
Outstanding collection of three N284 Buchner Gold Coin cards, comprised exclusively of Hall of Famers, each graded by SGC (with one PSA): 1) Cap Anson/hands outstretched (VG 40); 2) Tim Keefe/ball in hand (FAIR 20); 3) Jim O'Rourke/hands cupped (PSA VG 3). Buchners are unusual in that they feature generic illustrations of the ballplayers rather than the actual likeness of the identified player. This is an extremely attractive and substantial representative collection unto itself of key cards from the Buchner Tobacco set, one of the few full-color baseball-card sets of the nineteenth century, and one of the most artistically interesting, distinctive, and classic baseball-card sets of the 1880s. Total: 3 cards.
Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000++. SOLD FOR $1,422
