1909-1911 T206 Ty Cobb - Red Background - PSA EX 5

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,370

Graded EX 5 by PSA. Absolutely stunning EX example of the T206 portrait of Ty Cobb set against a brilliant red background, considered by many collectors to be his single most iconic card. It is one of the most recognizable and popular of all vintage baseball cards. The offered example is bright, crisp, and clean with no creases, outstanding color, and an extremely bold red background. Four square corners, showing light hints of wear, centered to the bottom with particularly full borders. The Piedmont advertisement on the reverse is very clean and well centered. This is a gorgeous card that would undoubtedly grade higher if centered better (and this centering issue is largely due to simply having a generous top border). Tremendous example of one of card collecting's all-time classics! The SMR value in the assigned grade is $2,300. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $2,370
