Two 1888 N173 Goodwin Old Judge Cabinets: Seward and Sommers
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,541
Presented is an attractive pair of N173 Old Judge Cabinets featuring Ed Seward and Pete Sommers. Old Judge cabinet cards have always been revered by collectors as among the most desirable of all pre-1900 issues. Both of these cards are in technically low grade but present well with extraordinary photo contrast. 1) Ed Seward (pose 408-1): Name, team, and position printed in ink on the front, light corner wear, small pencil notation and scattered staining on the reverse. 2) Pete Sommers (pose 430-2): Scattered staining, small staple hole, and vertical indentations all visible on front with several layers of album paper and adhesive present on the reverse. This pair presents an excellent opportunity for collectors to acquire two relatively affordable examples from this extremely substantial nineteenth-century set at a fraction of the cost of higher-graded specimens. Total: 2 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,541
