1903 E107 Breisch-Williams Jimmy Collins
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,778
Presented is a rare E107 Breisch-Williams sample card featuring Hall of Fame third baseman Jimmy Collins of the Boston Americans. As third baseman and manager of the 1903 Red Sox, and having just led them to victory in the first World Series, Collins is one of the most significant players in the entire E107 set. Collins was the greatest third baseman of his era. He led his league's third basemen in putouts five times, assists four times, double plays twice, and still stands second all-time in career putouts at third base. Collins was player-manager of the Red Sox in the American League's first six seasons, leading Boston to a victory over Pittsburgh in the inaugural World Series in 1903, the same year this card was issued. Blank back. Graded POOR 10 by SGC due to heavy creases and general wear, but as can easily be seen, the integrity of the card remains and it displays very nicely for a low-grade example of this extremely important card from the legendary E107 set.Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,778
