1911 T205 Gold Border Addie Joss PSA EX-MT 6
Starting Bid - $1,500, Sold For - $3,555
Graded EX-MT 6 by PSA. Extremely high-grade example of Addie Joss from the classic T205 Gold Border set. Bright, crisp, and clean, with brilliant colors and perfect registration. The card displays four square corners showing minor white touches and is centered to the left. The reverse of the card is also perfectly clean with bold blue text, a small tobacco stain (mentioned only for the sake of accuracy), and centered to the right. This is a stunning card and in an extremely high grade for a T205 Joss. This is one of only five examples ever graded at this level by PSA with only a lone PSA 7 grading higher. Joss is a particularly significant card in T205 because he is both a key Hall of Famer and also one of the rarest cards in the set. This is an even more significant card than most collectors realize, as the T205 of Joss is actually a memorial card. Joss tragically passed away from meningitis on April 14, 1911, cutting short one of baseball's greatest careers. Few collectors realize that the text on the reverse of the card specifically refers to his death in 1911 as a "great loss to the game," closing with "He was a faithful player liked by his team mates and respected by the public, many thousands of whom attended his funeral." All Addie Joss T205s have the same text on the reverse. This is a very sharp high-grade T205, and an extraordinary example of one of the most important and desirable cards ever issued of legendary Hall of Famer Addie Joss. The SMR value is $5,500. Reserve $1,500. Estimate $3,000/$5,000. SOLD FOR $3,555
