Circa 1957 Brooklyn Dodgers Signed Ball with Robinson and Campanella
Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $1,659.00
This ball features the signatures of twenty-one players (including seven Hall of Famers) who played with the Brooklyn Dodgers or one of the club's minor-league affiliates during the late 1950s. Although the combination of names do not conclusively pinpoint a single year, it appears that spring training of 1957 might be the best approximation for its date of origin, as all of the players represented would have been in camp that year with the exception of Robinson (he retired that winter). The Spalding "Little League" ball has been signed in blue ink by the following twenty-one players: Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella, Billy Herman (coach with the Dodgers, 1952-1957), Don Drysdale, Walt Alston (Mgr., sweet spot), Duke Snider, Pee Wee Reese, Don Newcombe, Bob Aspromonte, Fred Kipp, Jim Gilliam, Carl Erskine, Herb Olson (minor-league player), Jim Gentile, Don Zimmer, Roger Craig, Ralph Branca, Ed Roebuck, Gil Hodges, Clem Labine, and Randy Jackson. Signatures range from "6" to "9," averaging "7/8." All of the manufacturer's stampings are bold and legible. In Excellent to Mint condition. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,659.00
