Extraordinary 1946 Babe Ruth Single-Signed Ball

Starting Bid - $2,000.00, Sold For - $21,330.00

Official American League (Harridge) ball signed by Babe Ruth on the sweet spot. Ruth's signature has been beautifully executed in blue fountain pen and grades a strong "9." While this ball (like most) is not accompanied by any specific history relating to its signing, its stampings indicate that it was manufactured in 1946 only, which was just two years prior to Ruth's death. Ruth single-signed balls are by no means rare; however, the demand for high-grade examples, such as this, far exceeds the supply. One of the centerpieces of an extremely advanced collection assembled during a period of over twenty years, this is a particularly exceptional Ruth single-signed ball and one that would be among the highlights of any advanced Hall of Fame or New York Yankees single-signed ball collection. The ball displays just a hint of surface wear and the manufacturer's stampings are light, but legible. The signature portion of the ball as well as a small portion of the adjacent side panels have been coated with a very thin layer of protective shellac. Excellent condition. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $5,000++. SOLD FOR $21,330.00
