Circa 1936 Connie Mack Single-Signed Baseball

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $1,066.50

Official American League (Harridge) ball signed by Hall of Fame manager Connie Mack. The "Tall Tactician" has scripted his name in black fountain pen across the sweet spot, with the signature grading "6." The faded notation, "June 14 1936," is written in black fountain pen (not in Mack's hand) on the north panel. If this ball were signed on that date, Mack was certainly in a good mood. The Philadelphia Athletics recorded a rare victory over the Cleveland Indians in Cleveland on June 14th, marking the club's fifteenth win of the season. The A's only won forty-nine games in 1946, finishing fifty-five games behind the pennant-winning Red Sox. Mack only managed another four seasons before finally retiring with a record 3,731 wins in his fifty-year managerial career. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1937 and died in 1956. The ball display a few minor surface blemishes and/or abrasions, and all of the manufacturer's labels are bold and legible. In Excellent condition overall. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $1,066.50
