1931 New York Yankees Team-Signed Ball
Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $5,332.50
Official American League (Harridge) ball signed in black fountain pen by twenty members of the 1931 New York Yankees, including Ruth (sweet spot, "7"), Gehrig ("8"), Pennock, Gomez, Ruffing, Lazzeri, Dickey, Andrews, Perkins, Johnson, Hoag, Byrd, Lary, Reese, Wells, Jorgens, and Pipgras. There are three additional Yankees signatures on the ball, two of which appear to be those of Joe Sewell and Earl Combs (but are so faint that a positive identification cannot be made). An additional signature on the ball ("Frank C. McCabe") appears to be that of a former owner. With the exception of the three faint signatures, the signatures range from "4" to "8," averaging "7." This is a very attractive Yankees team ball, ideal for display, featuring particularly strong signatures of both Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. The ball is toned, with a few minor surface abrasions, but all of the manufacturer's stampings are bold and legible. In Very Good condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $4,000+. SOLD FOR $5,332.50
