1934 Babe Ruth Signed Tour of Japan Photo

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $3,258.75

Extremely high quality black-and-white souvenir photo of Babe Ruth, dating from the famous 1934 Tour of Japan, beautifully signed by Ruth along the base. The photo features a bust-length image Ruth posing in his "All Americans" jacket and has been signed in black fountain pen (grading "8/9") on the large bottom white border. The 1934 goodwill Tour of Japan was the only overseas tour in which Ruth participated, thereby making it one of the most celebrated tours in baseball history. Despite that fact, souvenirs from that historic trip, especially those signed by Ruth, are rare today and highly prized by collectors. We have seen a few examples of this photo over the years, all signed, and we believe they were specially prepared for Ruth specifically to sign and give to fans or friends. This is a particularly outstanding Ruth-signed Tour item. The photo (3.5 x 5 inches; blank back) displays a slight rough right border and is otherwise in Excellent to Mint condition. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA and accompanied by a full LOA from PSA/DNA.. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $4,000+. SOLD FOR $3,258.75
