Circa 1928 Babe Ruth Signed Photo

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,014.50

Babe Ruth is all dressed up and ready to do the town in this small, vintage snapshot photo that he later signed for a friend. Taken during spring training, circa late 1920s, Ruth is pictured standing next to an automobile as he poses for the camera. The simple inscription, rendered in black fountain pen on the front, reads "To Jack From Babe Ruth" and grades "8" overall. The photo (3 x 5 inches) displays a few minor edge creases, as well as two small areas of light discoloration at the base, none of which touch upon the inscription or Ruth's image. In Very Good condition overall. The photo has been matted and framed with two smaller (2 x 3 inches) vintage snapshots of Ruth. The first pictures him on the beach in Hawaii and the other captures him posing in street clothes on the sidewalk. Total dimensions: 15.25 x 11 inches. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $2,014.50
