Autographed 1928 R315 "Portraits and Action" Rogers Hornsby - PSA/DNA GEM MINT 10!

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $948.00

1928 R315 card of Hall of Fame second baseman Rogers Hornsby, flawlessly signed by Hornsby on the front in blue ball-point ink. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, with the signature graded "GEM MT 10" (only the signature has been graded, not the card). Anonymously produced in 1928, the R315 cards are similar in appearance to Exhibit cards from the era and are approximately the size of a postcard. The blank-back set consists of forty-six cards, including twenty-one future Hall of Famers. Any and all signed baseball cards dating from the 1920s or earlier are rare, and this is first signed example of an R315 Hornsby we have ever seen, let alone offered. The card displays normal corner wear, a few slight creases along the base, and a tiny tear (no paper loss) at the bottom border. 3.25 x 5.25 inches. Technically in Good to Very Good condition, but most of the flaws are very unobtrusive and the card displays at a much higher level. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800.
