Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Out of 322 examples of 1933 Goudey #222 Gehringer graded by PSA to date, only seventeen have been graded at this level, and only two have ever been graded higher. In 1926 Gehringer became the Tigers' regular second baseman. A reliable hitter with good power, he led the American League in batting in 1937 with a .371 mark. He was chosen MVP that season. He had more than 200 hits in seven different seasons and led the league in hits and runs scored in 1929 and 1934. Seven times he had more than 100 RBI. Gehringer starred for Tigers pennant winners in 1934, 1935, and 1940. This card is well-centered with near-perfect registration. Light toning in the borders and a clean, boldly printed reverse. A slight miscut is present along the top edge. A very attractive, extremely high-grade PSA example that would be a significant addition to virtually any 1933 Goudey PSA Registry set or Hall of Fame collection. SMR is $2,200. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500+. SOLD FOR $2,370.00
