1970 Topps Baseball Unopened Wax Box - Sixth and Seventh Series (24 Packs)

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $10,072.50

Original complete unopened wax box of 1970 Topps baseball housing a total of twenty-four wax packs from the sixth and seventh series with each pack containing ten cards; the twenty-four packs in the box represent a total of 240 cards. The 1970 Topps sixth and seventh series (#547-720) includes Pete Rose, Willie Mays, Nolan Ryan and many other stars of the day. While it is impossible to provide guarantees with reference to grading of unopened material, there is, of course, the very real possibility that within this box are Gem Mint cards of these stars. We have seen late-series boxes advertised as containing a mix of packs from the fifth, sixth, and seventh series, but we were only able to identify cards from the latter two series by looking at the cards visible on the reverse of some packs. It is possible that the mingling of two series also means fifth-series packs are present, but we cannot be sure. The packs are in Ex-Mt or better condition. The box has normal light shelf wear but has been extremely well preserved since our consignor purchased it in 1991. This is an extraordinary and very rarely seen complete unopened box of this popular issue with twenty-four unopened wax packs. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $4,000+. SOLD FOR $10,072.50
