1964 "Photo Linen Emblems" Near-Complete Set (8/10) Including Mickey Mantle

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $711.00

Near-complete set of "Photo Linen Emblems" highlighted by Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, and Yogi Berra. Missing only Koufax and Pepitone for completion. This is a very unusual set that features black-and-white photos of the players set within an oval patch, outlined in red embroidery, and designed to be sewn on to clothing by the user. Each patch measures approximately 3-3/8 by 4-3/8 and was issued in cellophane-wrapped packaging. The patches remain in excellent condition with no fraying or wear visible. The original cellophane wrapper and cardboard backing are also included for each patch! The set consists of the following: Berra, Boyer, Howard, Kubek, Mantle, Maris, Richardson, and Tresh. This is an interesting set featuring unique, non-card items (that display very much like cards) that were marketed to children and featuring some of the biggest stars of the early 1960s, including Mickey Mantle. Total: 8 emblems. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $711.00
