1957 Topps Complete Set (407) with 25 PSA-Graded Cards

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $4,443.75

10% Nr/Mt, 65% ranging from Ex to Ex-Mt, and 25% Vg to Vg-Ex. This is a very sharp-looking complete set of the classic 1957 Topps issue, mostly in fairly high grade, long ago very carefully assembled by an old-time collector. Highlighted by the rookie cards of Don Drysdale, Frank Robinson, and Brooks Robinson, the 1957 Topps includes many additional key star cards, among them Ted Williams and Mickey Mantle. Of the 407 cards in the set, twenty-five have been professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA, including the many key cards (Mantle, Clemente, Koufax, Williams, Aaron, and Mays). Keys: #1 T. Williams (VG-EX 4), 2 Berra (EX 5), 7 Aparicio (Ex-Mt), 10 Mays (EX 5), 15 Roberts (Ex), 18 Drysdale RC (EX-MT 6), 20 Aaron (EX-MT 6), 24 Mazeroski (EX-MT 6), 25 Ford (EX 5), 30 Reese (EX-MT 6), 35 F. Robinson RC (EX 5), 38 Fox (Ex), 40 Wynn (Vg-Ex), 55 Banks (EX-MT 6), 62 Martin (Ex), 70 Ashburn (Ex-Mt), 76 Clemente (EX 5), 80 Hodges (Vg-Ex), 90 Spahn (EX-MT 6), 95 Mantle (EX 5, 80/20 L/R and 70/30 T/B), 97 Yankees (Vg), 125 Kaline (Ex), 165 Kluszewski (Vg-Ex), 170 Snider (EX-MT 6), 210 Campanella (EX 5), 212 Colavito RC (EX 5), 250 Mathews (EX-MT 6), 286 Richardson RC (EX-MT 6), 302 Koufax (NM 7 [OC]), 312 Kubek RC (Vg), 324 Dodgers (Vg), 328 B. Robinson RC (EX 5), 338 Bunning RC (EX-MT 6), 400 Dodgers' Sluggers (EX 5), and 407 Mantle/Berra (EX 5). Other PSA-graded cards: #242 (NM-MT 8) and 376 (NM 7). 1957 Topps has always been very popular due to its classic photographic style and inclusion of so many stars. This is a very attractive complete set with a very large percentage of cards (75%) ranging from Ex to Nr/Mt. The 1957 Topps represents one of the all-time classic 1950s issues from the "golden years" of baseball. The SMR value for just twenty-three of the twenty-five PSA-graded cards is $2,103 (not including the VG-EX 4 Williams, the qualified card of Koufax, and the remaining 382 ungraded cards!). This is a very sharp-looking 1957 Topps set and one with tremendous break value. Total: 407 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000+. SOLD FOR $4,443.75
