1954 Red Heart Dog Food Complete PSA-Graded Set (33)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,896.00

Complete 33-card set of Red Heart Dog Food baseball cards with all cards graded and encapsulated by PSA. Though comprised of only thirty-three cards, the set features many of the greatest stars of the early 1950s, including Mantle, Musial, Snider, Ashburn, Spahn, and Fox. This is a very sharp-looking set. The PSA grades are as follows: Two NM-MT 8: Kell (HOF) and Zernial (OC). Two NM+ 7.5: Dark and Minoso. Eleven NM 7: Baumholtz, Cox, Fain, Lemon (HOF), Mantle (HOF), McMillan, Sauer, Schoendienst (HOF), Slaughter (HOF), Spahn (HOF, MC), and Yost. Seven EX-MT 6: Erskine, Fondy, Gilliam, Kuenn, Martin, Rosen, and White. Three EX+ 5.5: Bell, Kluszewski, and Snider (HOF). Three EX 5: Fox (HOF), McDougald, and Musial (HOF). One VG-EX+ 4.5: Lollar. Three VG-EX 4: Ashburn (HOF), Hegan, and Pierce. One GOOD 2: Kiner (HOF, MK). This is a very attractive set of these classic cards with tremendous presentation even among the lower-graded cards. Red Hearts have always been a favorite with collectors. Many consider Red Hearts to be one of the most attractive sets ever issued. The distinctive artwork and the unusual product with which they were issued both contribute to making Red Hearts one of the 1950s' most noteworthy sets. No essay on baseball cards and how they were issued is complete without at least a mention of Red Heart Dog Food. This is a gorgeous complete set of one of the most popular of all 1950s food issues. The SMR value for twenty-six of the graded cards (not including the two qualified cards and the five cards graded less than EX 5) is $2,100. Total: 33 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $1,896.00
