1954 Bowman Complete Set Including #66 Ted Williams (225)

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $4,443.75

20% Nr/Mt, 35% evenly distributed Ex+ to Ex-Mt, 30% Ex, and 15% lesser (mostly due to centering but including a few with slight trim). This is a very attractive medium-to-high grade complete set of one of the most overlooked (and compared to many other sets, most reasonably valued) classic bubble-gum card issues from the golden age of the 1950s. This set includes the #66 Ted Williams, which is the key card to the 1954 Bowman set and one of the legendary key cards among all postwar gum cards. We have selected nine cards to be graded by SGC. Keys: #1 Rizzuto (NM+ 86), 6 Fox (Ex+), 15 Ashburn (Ex+), 45 Kiner (Ex-Mt+), 50 Kell (Ex+), 58 Reese (Ex), 62 Slaughter (Nr/Mt), 64 Mathews (NM 84), 65 Mantle (EX/NM+ 82), 66a Williams (EX 60), 66b Piersall (Vg), 84 Doby (Vg-Ex), 89 Mays (VG/EX 50), 90 Campanella (90/10 L/R, otherwise Ex-Mt), 110 Schoendienst (Ex), 132 Feller (no bottom border, otherwise Ex), 138 Hodges (Ex), 145 Martin (NM 84), 161 Berra (EX+ 70), 164 Wynn (Ex+), 170 Snider (EX 60), 177 Ford (NM+ 86), and 196 Lemon (Ex). This is a very strong set built by a collector with an eye for quality and consistency. The equivalent SMR value for just eight of the nine graded cards (not including the VG/EX 50 Mays or the 216 ungraded cards and not accounting for the Mantle half-grade!) is $2,245. Total: 225 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000. SOLD FOR $4,443.75
