1948 to 1955 Bowman Brooklyn Dodgers Collection (127)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $3,851.25

On the playgrounds in Brooklyn in the 1950s, cards featuring Brooklyn Dodgers were the ultimate currency. A single Dodger player card was a prize, a small stack was an abundance of riches. A collection of 127 was unheard of, but if it could even be imagined, would have qualified as a king's ransom. Offered is a collection of 127 assorted Bowmans from 1948 to 1955, all of Dodgers players, highlighted by legends such as Jackie Robinson, Duke Snider, Roy Campanella, Pee Wee Reese, and Gil Hodges. We have selected eight star cards to be graded and encapsulated by SGC. Comprised of the following: 1) 1948 (3 cards): #7 Reiser, 41, 43. Ex condition. 2) 1949 (15 cards): #20, 36 Reese (Ex), 50 Robinson (SGC VG+ 45), 61, 70 Furillo (trim), 73, 84 Campanella RC (SGC VG 40), 100 Hodges RC (SGC EX/NM 80), 116, 146, 162 Roe (Vg-Ex), 178, 194 Branca (Ex+), 206, and 226 Snider RC (SGC EX/NM 80). 3) 1950 (18 cards): #21 Reese (Vg-Ex), 22 Robinson (SGC VG 40), 23 Newcombe, 58 Furillo, 59 Branca (Fr), 75 Campanella (Vg+), 76, 77 Snider (Ex), 112 Hodges (Ex), 113, 165, 166, 167 Roe, 194, 222, 223, and 224 (2). 4) 1951 (22 cards): #6 Newcombe, 7 Hodges (Vg-Ex), 31 Campanella (Vg-Ex), 32 Snider (SGC EX/NM+ 82), 55 (2), 56 Branca, 80 Reese (Vg+), 81 Furillo, 116 (2), 117, 118 Roe, 152, 153, 189, 190, 224, 225, 259 Dressen, 260 Erskine RC, and 299. 5) 1952 (17 cards): #8 Reese (Ex), 24 Furillo, 44 Campanella (trim/miscut), 56, 70 Erskine, 80 Hodges (Vg-Ex+), 86, 96 Branca, 116 Snider (Vg-Ex), 128 Newcombe, 152, 168 Roe, 188 Dressen, 204, 224, and 240 Loes (2). 6) 1953 B&W (3 cards): #26 Roe (Vg), 52 Branca (Ex), and 60 (Vg). 7) 1953 Color (13 cards): #12 Erskine, 14 Loes (2), 33 Reese (SGC VG/EX+ 55), 46 Campanella (Fr, erased writing on back otherwise Ex), 78 Furillo, 92 Hodges (Vg), 117 Snider (SGC EX 60), 124 Dressen, 129, 135 (2), and 145 Shuba. 8) 1954 (15 cards): #10 Erskine, 26, 42 Loes, 58 Reese (Vg-Ex), 74 Gilliam, 90 Campanella (Vg-Ex), 106 (2), 122 Furillo, 138 Hodges (Vg-Ex), 154 Newcombe, 170 Snider (Ex+), 186, 202 Shuba, and 218 Roe. 9) 1955 (21 cards): #21, 22 Campanella (Ex-Mt), 37 Reese (Ex+), 39, 65 Zimmer RC, 66, 97 Podres, 98 Gilliam, 143 Newcombe, 156, 158 Hodges (Ex+), 169 Furillo, 170 Furillo, 195 (2), 196, 240 Loes, 261, 270, 278, and 310.
