1954-1956 Spic and Span Braves SGC-Graded Complete Set (18)
Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $711.00
Complete eighteen card set of Spic and Span Milwaukee Braves highlighted by Eddie Mathews, Warren Spahn, and an early appearance of Hank Aaron. These slightly oversized cards, which measure 4 x 6 inches, were regionally issued over a three-year period and feature exclusively members of the Milwaukee Braves in black-and-white photos with a small advertisement for Spic and Span Dry Cleaners and script signatures on front. Each card has been graded and encapsulated by SGC. SGC grading composite: NM/MT 88 (1 card): Crandall. NM+ 86 (1 card): Nichols. NM 84 (3 cards): Buhl, Conley, and Jolly. EX/NM 80 (3 cards): Adcock, O'Connell, and Thomson. EX+ 70 (2 cards): Dittmer and Mathews (HOF). EX 60 (1 card): Burdette. VG/EX 50 (5 cards): Crone, Johnson, Logan, Pafko, and Spahn (HOF). VG 40 (1 card): Aaron (HOF). GOOD 30 (1 card): Burton. This is a very attractive set with even the lesser-graded examples presenting at a far superior level than suggested by their technically accurate assigned grades. Several of these fragile, oversized cards have been downgraded due to light wrinkles or corner bends. This is a very attractive complete set of these popular regionally issued cards. Total: 18 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $711.00
