1947 to 1957 Topps, Leaf, and Other Unusual Issues Brooklyn Dodgers Collection (188)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $7,110.00

On the playgrounds in Brooklyn in the 1950s, cards featuring Brooklyn Dodgers were the ultimate currency. A single Dodger player card was a prize, a small stack was an abundance of riches. A collection of 188 was unheard of, but if it could even be imagined, would have qualified as a king's ransom. Offered is a collection of 188 assorted cards from 1947 to 1957, all of Dodgers players (exception for a single Satchel Paige), highlighted by legends such as Jackie Robinson, Duke Snider, Roy Campanella, Pee Wee Reese, and Gil Hodges. The vast majority are 1950s cards issued by Topps, but also included are cards from Leaf, Berk Ross, and other unusual issues. We have selected four star cards to be graded by SGC. Comprised of the following (quantities in parentheses): 1) 1947 Tip Top Bread (3): Branca, Hatton, and Rackley (all Pr). 2) 1948 Leaf (2): #79 Robinson (GOOD+ 35) and 102 (Vg-Ex). 3) 1948 Swell Sports Thrills (3): #3 Robinson (Gd), 18 Reese (Pr), and 20 Furillo (Vg-Ex). 4) 1948 R346 Blue Tint (1): Robinson (Pr). 5) 1950 Drake's (5): Campanella (Pr), Furillo (Vg-Ex), Hodges (Gd), Reese (Vg-Ex), and Roe (Vg-Ex). 6) 1951 Topps Teams (1): Dodgers (dated, Fr). 7) 1951 Topps Blue Back (3): #20 Branca (Vg-Ex), 42 (Ex), and 48 (Ex). 8) 1951 Topps Red Back (4): #11 (Ex), 16 Roe (Vg-Ex), 31 Hodges (Ex), and 38 Snider (Vg+). 9) 1952 Berk Ross (7): Campanella (Ex+), Hodges (Fr), Newcombe (Vg-Ex), Reese (Pr), Robinson (Vg), Roe (Fr), and Snider (Gd). 10) 1952 Wheaties (2): Campanella (Gd) and Roe (Ex-Mt). 11) 1952 Topps (28): #1 Pafko (Gd/Vg), 7, 36 Hodges (Vg-Ex), 37 Snider (Gd/Vg), 53, 66 Roe (Pr), 136, 188, 198, 205, 232, 239, 250 Erskine (Ex), 273, 274 Branca (Ex), 312 Robinson High # (VG 40), 314 Campanella High # (VG/EX+ 55), 319 High # (Gd/Vg), 320 High # (Vg), 321 Black High # (EX 60), 326 Shuba High # (Vg-Ex+), 342 High # (Gd), 355 High # (Vg), 365 High # (Vg), 377 Dressen High # (Vg), 389 Wade High # (Vg-Ex), 390 High # (Vg), and 395 High # (Vg-Ex+).
