28% Ex-Mt or better, 48% Ex, 12% Vg-Ex, and 12% lesser (mostly due to pinholes). Original-owner 1953 Bowman Color partial set with 129 of the 160 cards, including particularly strong examples of key cards #59 Mickey Mantle and 44 Berra/Bauer/Mantle (both EX-MT 6). The 1953 Bowman set has always been one of the most popular card issues of the era. Seventeen cards have been graded and encapsulated by PSA. Keys: #1 D. Williams (NM-MT 8), 18 Fox (Ex+), 32 Musial (NM 7), 33 Reese (NM-MT 8 OC), 44 Berra/Bauer/Mantle (EX-MT 6), 46 Campanella (EX-MT 6), 51 Irvin (Vg/Ex), 59 Mantle (EX-MT 6), 65 Roberts (Fr), 80 Kiner (Fr), 81 Slaughter (Pr), 92 Hodges (EX-MT 6), 93 Rizzuto/Martin (NM 7), 97 Mathews (Pr), 99 Spahn (EX 5), 101 Schoendienst (Ex), 114 Feller (Vg/Ex), 117 Snider (Vg/Ex), 118 Martin (Ex+), 121 Berra (EX 5), 153 Ford (NM-MT 8 OC), and 160 Abrams (NM 7). The additional graded cards are as follows: #43 (NM 7), 53 (NM 7), 83 (NM 7), 154 (NM 7), and 159 (NM 7). Missing thirty-one cards for completion: #2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9 Rizzuto, 10 Ashburn, 12, 14, 16, 17, 19, 21 Garagiola, 24, 26, 28, 29, 36 Minoso, 38, 40 Doby, 45, 49, 54, 55 Durocher, 57 Boudreau, 61 Kell, 63, 76, 82, 108, and 146 Wynn. This is a very attractive partial set of this classic 1950s gum-card issue, with many particularly noteworthy condition highlights, representing a very significant start towards the assembly of a strong mid- to high-grade set. The equivalent SMR value for just fifteen of the graded cards (not including the two qualified cards and the 112 ungraded cards!) is $4,715. Total: 129 cards. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000++.
