1953 Topps Complete Set (274)

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $9,480.00

9% Ex-Mt, 63% Ex, and 28% Vg-Ex (includes some Vg). Presented is a very impressive mid-grade complete set of 1953 Topps, highlighted by very attractive examples of all the key cards to the set, including #82 Mickey Mantle. This set has been consigned to this auction by the original owner, who collected these in the year of issue. Each card in this set has been beautifully preserved throughout the years, maintaining all of the original gloss and bold colors as were present in the year of issue. Many cards have been technically downgraded due to light handling wear in the corners and along the delicate colored nameplate at the bottom of each card. This set can be upgraded if desired, or kept exactly as is, and in this grade is often considered as representing an unusually strong collecting value. There is always an extremely strong demand for classic vintage sets that are impressive yet are still relatively affordable. We have selected six cards from this set to be graded by PSA. Keys: #1 Robinson (EX 5), 10 Burgess SP (Ex), 27 Campanella (Vg-Ex), 37 Mathews (Ex), 41 Slaughter (Vg), 54 Feller (VG-EX 4), 61 Wynn SP (Ex+), 62 Irvin (Vg-Ex+), 76 Reese (Vg-Ex+), 77 Mize (Ex), 78 Schoendienst (Vg-Ex), 81 Black SP (Ex), 82 Mantle (VG-EX 4), 86 Martin (Ex), 104 Berra (Vg+), 114 Rizzuto (Vg+), 119 Sain SP (Ex+), 138 Kell (Ex-Mt), 147 Spahn (VG-EX 4), 149 DiMaggio (Ex), 151 Wilhelm (Ex+), 162 Kluszewski (Ex), 191 Kiner (Ex+), 207 Ford (Ex+), 220 Paige (Vg+), 228 Newhouser (EX 5), 244 Mays (EX 5), 246 Face (Vg-Ex), 254 Roe (Ex+), 258 Gilliam SP (Ex+), 263 Podres SP (Vg-Ex), 264 Woodling (Ex+), 265 Jensen SP (Ex), 273 Haddix SP (Ex), 280 Bolling (Ex). This is an exceptionally attractive set, far above average for this issue, with tremendous eye-appeal across the board. Total: 274 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000. SOLD FOR $9,480.00
