1949 Bowman #226 Duke Snider Rookie SGC NM/MT+ 92
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,370.00
Graded NM/MT+ 92 by SGC. The only example graded at this level by SGC, with just two graded higher. Stunning ultra high-grade example of one of postwar collecting's most popular rookie cards, featuring Hall of Famer Duke Snider of the Brooklyn Dodgers. Bright, crisp, and clean, both front and back, with four razor-sharp corners, perfect focus, and centering toward the left border. 1949 Bowmans in general are rarely found in such high grade, primarily because they so often have naturally soft corners due to the paper stock on which they are printed. This is an extremely high grade example of Duke Snider’s first gum card and one of the key rare high-number cards of the classic 1949 Bowman set. The equivalent SMR value for the assigned grade is $3,200. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+. SOLD FOR $2,370.00
