1948-1949 Leaf #76 Ted Williams SGC NM/MT 88

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $2,962.50

Graded NM/MT 88 by SGC. Outstanding high-grade example of this significant condition rarity, which is also one of Ted Williams' most striking and popular cards. 1948-1949 Leafs have always posed a problem for condition-conscious collectors. In addition to the many normal problems encountered with this issue (excessive toning, general wear from fragile paper stock, soft corners, centering issues, and print lines), collectors also have to deal with the wildly varying degrees of print quality that characterize the set. It is easy to see why 1948-1949 Leafs are one of the most difficult of all issues to collect in high grade. The offered card raises the bar for surviving 1948 Leafs. The offered example has a perfectly crisp image, with flawless registration, and brilliant colors. Perfectly clean front and back, with four razor-sharp corners, and centered slightly to the right. The image of Williams practically jumps off the flawless bold, bright-red background. Pack-fresh, crisp, high-grade example of one of Williams' most classic cards, worthy of the finest collection. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000+. SOLD FOR $2,962.50
