1935 R327 Diamond Stars #54 Hank Greenberg - Rare Error Card - PSA NM-MT 8
Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $3,851.25
Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Only five examples of this rarity have ever received a NM-MT 8 grade (including this one), with only one graded higher. Presented is an exceptionally crisp, high-grade example of the rare error card featuring Hall of Famer Hank Greenberg from the 1935 R327 Diamond Stars issue. Greenberg is an extremely important card in the R327 Diamond Stars set. Because of a printing error, this card is known to exist with Greenberg's last name spelled correctly and with his last name misspelled as "Greenburg.” The incorrectly spelled "Greenburg" card is far rarer than the correctly spelled variety (as is easily seen at a glance by looking at the PSA Population Report, which shows 273 examples of the correctly spelled variety graded to date, compared with only forty-two of the incorrectly spelled variety). It is one of the rarest of all R327 Diamond Stars. This card is perfectly centered with four razor-sharp corners, flawless registration, and deep, rich colors. The reverse has a very small, light spot of toning in the lower center (of no consequence). This is an exceptionally strong pack-fresh ultra high-grade example that would be an ideal addition to any high-grade R327 master set or Hall of Fame card collection. SMR value for the assigned grade is $3,500. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000++. SOLD FOR $3,851.25
