1931-1932 Babe Ruth PSA-Graded Foreign Cards Pair
Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $355.50
Two rare and unusual Babe Ruth cards, both issued in Germany, dating from 1931 and 1932, each graded by PSA. In the 1930s, several very high quality cards of Babe Ruth were issued in countries other than America. These cards get very little attention, simply because most collectors are not familiar with cards not issued in America, but they represent some of the scarcest and most interesting of all Babe Ruth cards. 1) 1931 Josetti Tobacco #151: EX 5. This extremely rare real-photo card pictures Babe Ruth and silent-film star Harold Lloyd standing together during the filming of the 1928 release Speedy. The film was produced by Paramount, which is credited in the lower right corner of the photo. The card is bright and crisp, with four sharp corners, perfect clarity, and bold black printing on the reverse. 2) 1932 Bulgaria Sport #256: NM+ 7.5. This unusual real-photo card set includes 272 different subjects. Babe Ruth, who shares the card with boxing Hall of Famer Max Schmeling, is the only Major League ballplayer in the series. This is a very attractive high-grade card, with four sharp corners, perfect focus, and centered very slightly to the bottom. This is an extremely unusual pair of Babe Ruth cards from two different high-quality issues. Total: 2 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $500+.
