1923-1932 Zeenut PCL Collection with Coupons! (56)

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $7,702.50

Collection of fifty-six rare Zeenut PCL cards, spanning the years 1923 to 1932, representing nine different sets, each with the original coupon attached to the bottom. While a Zeenut collection in which every card still has its coupon attached is by definition a collection comprised exclusively of highlights, of special note is the inclusion of Babe Herman's 1925 rookie card and Ernie Nevers' 1930 example. This is an outstanding group originating from the family of the original owner. His collection included over nine hundred Zeenuts of which only this small portion maintained their original coupons. Zeenuts are scarce to begin with, but they rarely survive with coupons intact. The coupons were intended to be cut off by youngsters and redeemed for prizes. This collection consists of cards from the following sets: 1923 (Doyle), 1925 (Hannah, Herman, Kilduff, O’Neil, and Vinci), 1926 (Christian, Couch, Delaney, Ellsworth, Hemingway, Hickok, Hood, Hughes, Krug, Oliver, Pruett, Sweeney, Thompson, Valla, and Whitney), 1927 (Brett, Hasty, and Sparks), 1928 (Baker, Boehler, Fenton, Fitterer, Guisto, McLaughlin, Parker, Ryan, and Williams), 1929 (Daglia and Shanklin), 1930 (Arlett, Beck, Bryan, Burkett, Camilli, Carlyle, Hannah, Kasich, Keating, Mellana, Nevers, Osborne, Parker, Rodda, Taylor, Walsh, Williams, and Woodall), 1931 (Gazella and Yerkes), and 1932 (Yde). We have selected three cards to be graded by SGC. The graded cards are 1928 Guisto (EX 60), 1930 Woodall (EX+ 70), and 1932 Yde (VG 40). The balance of the cards grade twenty-five Vg to Ex (mostly Vg including Herman and Nevers), seven Gd, twenty Fr, and one Pr. Several of the lesser-graded examples present at a far higher level but have been downgraded due to light pencil (ink in one case) on the reverse. This is a spectacular and amazing group of Zeenut candy cards with tabs intact. Total: 56 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000+.
