1912 Zeenut PCL Dave Bancroft Rookie

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $1,303.50

Hall of Fame rookie card of Dave Bancroft from the 1912 Zeenut PCL set featuring Bancroft during his minor-league playing days with Portland. The 1912 Zeenut set is one of two years in which Zeenuts were issued in a large format, measuring 2-1/8 x 4-1/16 inches. This is one of Bancroft's most desirable and rarest cards. It is graded POOR 10 by SGC due to heavy wear to the corners and modest creasing. The important image of Bancroft in a throwing pose is, however, largely unaffected. The reverse displays pencil writing, common to many blank-backed cards of this era. Zeenuts are very rarely found in high grade, so collectors have come to appreciate and accept certain flaws in these early cards. This is a very desirable example of the key card from this rare minor-league issue. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $1,303.50
