1926 Zeenut PCL Partial Set (128/172) Including Averill, Waner, and O'Doul
Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $2,370.00
Partial set of 128 of the 172 different 1926 Zeenut cards featuring Pacific Coast League players, highlighted by Hall of Famers Lloyd Waner and Earl Averill, and also Lefty O'Doul. The 1926 Zeenut set is comprised of players from eight different teams (Hollywood, Los Angeles, Mission, Oakland, Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco, and Seattle). A large grouping such as this is very rarely seen. Condition is 11% Vg or better, 75% Fr (two-thirds of which present Vg to Ex but are downgraded due to writing on the reverse), and 14% Pr. We have selected three cards to be graded by SGC. Keys: Earl Averill (POOR 10), Jolly (Pr), O'Doul (FAIR 20, Vg-Ex appearance from the front but downgraded due to stats written in ink on the back), Statz (FAIR 20, Ex appearance from the front but downgraded due to stats written in ink on the back), and Lloyd Waner (Pr). As is usually the case with Zeenuts, the coupon at the bottom of each card has been clipped away, as intended, to be redeemed for valuable prizes. Missing the following cards for completion: Agnew, Allen, Alley, Berry, Boone, Boyd, Brady, Brazil, Bryan, Burns, Cole, Couch, Cutshaw, Eldred, Elliott, Ellsworth, Elsh, Fenton, Gillespie, Hannah, Hasty, Holmes, Hufft, Jahn, Jenkins, Johnson, Kallio, Koehler, Lane, Mangum, Martin, Meeker, Ortman, Pillette, Plummer, Rachac, Ramsey, Rohwer, Sherlock, E. Smith, M. Smith, Staley, Vargas, Weis, and Zaeffel. This partial set is part of a large original-owner Zeenut collection, consigned to this auction by the family of the gentleman who collected these cards as a child, which we have broken down into smaller lots by year. Total: 128 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+.
