1915 E145 Cracker Jack #37 Grover Alexander SGC NM/MT+ 92

Starting Bid - $2,500.00, Sold For - $15,405.00

Graded NM/MT+ 92 by SGC. Magnificent ultra high-grade example of Hall of Fame pitcher Grover Alexander from the classic 1915 Cracker Jack series. This the only 1915 Cracker Jack example of the #37 Alexander card graded at this level by SGC, with just two miracle cards graded higher (both MINT 96), out of thirty examples evaluated to date. This has always been one of Alexander’s most striking and popular cards. This card is a gem! Crisp and clean, both front and back, with stunningly bold colors and a particularly vibrant red background. The card has four sharp corners, perfectly white borders, and is centered very slightly towards the bottom. The reverse is also exceptionally bright and clean with crisp, bold black text. This card obviously originates from an original "factory set" obtained by mail directly from the company as it is entirely absent of any hints of caramel staining so frequently encountered with these cards. Cracker Jacks are universally recognized as one of the most highly prized and widely collected of all prewar sets. This is a particularly extraordinary high-grade 1915 Cracker Jack example of Grover Alexander, one of baseball's greatest pitchers, from one of card collecting's most classic and popular sets. The PSA Sports Market Report does not list values for half-grades from this set, but the equivalent SMR values for a PSA NM-MT 8 and PSA MINT 9 are $7,500 and $14,000, respectively. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000+. SOLD FOR $15,405.00
