1914 E & S Publishing Co. Art Wilson Postcard (Chicago, Federal League)

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $355.50

This exceptionally rare 1914 postcard, issued by the E & S Publishing Co. of Chicago, features Chicago Chi-Feds catcher Art Wilson. As is the style of these cards, an illustration of Wilson appears in the center, surrounded by cartoon vignettes illustrating facts regarding his baseball career. Included among the cartoons are references to Wilson's time with the New York Giants before moving to the Federal League as well as his then-record nine consecutive putouts in 1911. This postcard (5.5 x 3.75 inches) is graded SGC EX/NM 80 and represents the only graded example of Wilson by PSA or SGC. This is an extremely high grade sample from this rare postcard set, which is also one of the very few sets to include any players from the short-lived Federal League. Reserve $200. Estimate $300+. SOLD FOR $355.50
