1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle - Once Owned by Mantle!

Starting Bid - $10,000.00, Sold For - $35,550.00

Graded EX/NM 80 by SGC. Extremely attractive, crisp, clean, high-grade example of 1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle. The 1952 Topps #311 has always been one of card collecting's greatest classics, but this is a particularly special and unique example. As noted on the SGC label, this card comes with the special provenance of having belonged to Mickey Mantle and once resided in Mantle's personal collection. Mantle's Topps rookie card is the key to the 1952 Topps set, one of the most famous of all cards, and the single most popular and valuable postwar baseball card. This is a magnificent example with brilliant colors. The deep blue background, which is so prone to wear, is exceptionally strong and virtually flawless. The white interlocking "NY" on the front of Mickey's cap contrasts sharply against the dark navy blue of his cap. The corners are extremely strong and square, each with only the slightest touch of wear. Centered 40/60 left to right and 45/55 top and bottom. The reverse is centered towards the top left when held horizontally as intended (approximately 30/70 L/R and T/B). This is a spectacularly bright, fresh, clean example of Mickey Mantle's most desirable card, with the added allure of having a unique and significant personal connection to Mantle. Reserve $10,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $35,550.00
