Circa 1948 Babe Ruth Figural Clock

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,066.50

This classic Babe Ruth figural electric desk clock produced by the Abbotwares company features a bust of Ruth between two baseballs, on which are recorded his single-season and lifetime home-run records, respectively. This clock was the top prize offered by a baseball punch-board game, circa 1948, and our consignor's mother obtained it in that very manner. It has remained in the family since that time. The right baseball, displaying Ruth's lifetime home-run total, appears to be missing its two anchoring screws and as a result it is detached from the base (it can probably be repaired). However, the ball and stanchion stand freely as is and the fact that it is not bolted down does not detract in the least from its outstanding display value. Aside from that minor condition anomaly, the clock displays general light wear, including a minor tarnishing to the metal components, and, is in overall Excellent condition. The clock is not in working order. Dimensions: 12.5 (L) x 5 (D) x 10 (H) inches. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $1,066.50
