1966 Philadelphia "Green Berets" Near-Compete Unopened Wax Box (23 packs)

Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $474.00

Near-complete unopened wax box (missing only one for completion) from the Philadelphia Gum "Green Berets" series. This box houses twenty-three five-cent wax packs, each containing five cards and a stick of gum, for a total of 115 cards. This set, issued in 1966, is dedicated entirely to the men of the U. S. Army special forces known as the Green Berets and features various black-and-white scenes related to their work throughout the set. The reverse of each card features part of a colorful illustration intended as a piece of a larger display of a Green Beret in action. All the packs are tightly wrapped, with eighteen presenting as Nr/Mt or better and five grading slightly lesser due to soiling present on front. The display box itself is in Excellent condition with only a split along the front left corner visible. While it is impossible to provide guarantees with reference to grading of unopened material, there is, of course, the very real possibility that within this box are Mint or Gem Mint cards from this set. This is an extremely high grade near-complete wax box from this popular mid-1960s nonsport issue. Total: 23 packs. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $474.00
