1964 Topps Football Uncut Advertising Panels (16)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,777.50

Collection of sixteen three-card advertising panels for the 1964 Topps Football series. The front of each features cards #8 Larry Eisenhauer, 110 Kansas City Chiefs Team, and 151 Bo Roberson. The reverse of each features illustrations of a 1964 Topps wax display box along with a promotional message advertising the set and the football pennant included in all nickel packs. For many years (beginning in 1952 and continuing well into the 1960s), these rare three-card advertising panels were distributed by Topps to grocery-store and candy-store owners for the purpose of announcing and providing samples of the new cards being offered. The fronts are uncut strips of three cards. The reverse of the advertising panel cards, however, are very different from those of the issued cards, presenting advertising for the set directed to merchants. Because of their method of distribution and purpose, all Topps advertising panels are quite rare. Each panel is preserved extremely well, bright and clean, and in overall Ex-Mt condition. Dimensions: 3.5 x 7.5 inches each. Total: 16 panels. Reserve $500. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $1,777.50
