Six 1960 Fleer Casper Complete Sets (396 cards) Plus Display Box and 238 Duplicates (634 cards)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,370.00

Exceptional find of six 1960 Fleer Casper complete sets (66 cards per set) plus display box. Also included are 238 extra cards. Among the duplicates (over and above the six complete sets) are the beginnings of several partial sets, including one grouping missing only one card (#34) for completion. This very scarce and highly popular Fleer gum-card set features Casper "The Friendly Ghost" and, of course, his many friends. Casper is not a set that turns up with any frequency, let alone in groups of sets. The issue is noted for centering problems and miscuts (no borders). Four of the sets presented here are particularly sharp and grade Ex to Ex/Mt (with some better) without reference to the normal number of off-center cards that are to be expected, and with a sharp, pack-fresh appearance. The other two complete sets are very respectable but in lesser condition, averaging Vg-Ex to Ex. The 238 extra duplicate cards vary in condition from Poor to Vg-EX, averaging Gd-Vg. The accompanying display box is missing the top but otherwise remains in Good condition with a tear down the seam at one corner and slight soiling. Casper is one of the most colorful and amusing sets ever issued, and few card sets are greeted with greater amusement by a wider audience. Though hard to take seriously, it is also one of the rarest sets of the era - far rarer than the Three Stooges cards, also issued by Fleer. This is a tremendous find of six (dare we say it?) very friendly complete sets plus 238 duplicates. Total: 634 cards (six sets of 66 and 238 duplicates) plus box. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000.
