1953 Bowman "Firefighters" Complete Set (64)
Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $592.50
Bowman's "Firefighters" set is one of the most popular and elusive of all 1950s nonsport gum-card issues. Presented is a high-grade complete set of all sixty-four cards. Twenty-four cards are in Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt condition, thirty-four are Ex, and six are Vg-Ex. Many of the cards graded Ex or less are downgraded solely due to centering and display with the same sharp corners and bright colors as the higher-graded cards. The set features incredible multicolor artwork illustrations of fire engines, fireboats, and rescue trucks. The back of each card in the set has a fire prevention tip (e.g., "Don't Play with Matches") printed above the equipment descriptions, which qualifies the set as the first "safety" trading-card set ever produced. This is a very crisp and sharp-looking complete set of this very scarce and noteworthy nonsport card issue. Total: 64 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $592.50
