Rare 1942 R190 Milkes Co. "America's Defenders" Complete Set of Die-Cut Boxes (6)

Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $711.00

Complete set of six R190 die-cut boxes from the "America's Defenders" series. Produced by Milkes Company in 1942, this very rare and unusual set features colorful, patriotic-themed scenes of military men (including General Douglas MacArthur) and related equipment such as planes, tanks, and artillery. These are extremely rare! Most collectors have never seen a single example, let alone a complete set. Each box measures 2.5 x 5.5 inches, with the larger (approximately 9.25 inches) die-cut card attached to the back of each "Molasses Kisses" candy box. The boxes have brief descriptions of the pictured scene and advertise war bonds on the side panel. The boxes are in overall Very Good condition, retaining all of their original vibrant colors and present with minor shelf wear and lighting creasing on the extremities visible. Each box is fully intact and has been stored flat for preservation. Included are: General Douglas MacArthur, Captain Colin Kelly, Machine Gunner, Half-Trac Scout, Curtis P-40, and Boeing B-17. This is a very attractive complete collection of this rarely seen nonsport set. Total: 6 boxes. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000.
