Interesting and eclectic collection of 1,094 nonsport cards and stamps devoted exclusively to film and television stars of the 1920s through 1940s. These famous figures were popular subjects for card manufacturers during this era and were often the focus of entire sets in addition to occasionally sharing space with sports stars in various strip-card and exhibit-card issues. Six different sets are represented within this collection. 1) 1921 E123 American Caramel Co. "Movie Actors and Actresses" (99 cards): Near-complete set missing #5 and 81-100 for completion. Vg to Vg-Ex condition with three lesser. Includes display box in Vg condition. 2) 1920s W618 Kashin Publications "Motion Picture Stars" (175 cards): Near-complete set (90/96) missing Denny, Dunn, Garbo, Lee, Maynard, and Miljan. Includes four original boxes. Also includes eighty-five duplicates. Condition is Vg-Ex to Ex (with a few lesser). 3) 1920s E243 Brody Novelty Candy Co. "Motion Picture Stars" (8 cards): Closely related to W618 Kashin with some checklist and pose differences. Vg to Vg-Ex condition, including six colorized. 4) 1932 "National Screen Star" Stamps (198 stamps): Eleven sheets of eighteen stamps each in original glassine envelope. Nine sheets are fully intact, one is partially separated with corner missing from one stamp, and one is entirely separated into three stamp strips. All stamps are Nr/Mt (except for one). 5) 1945-1949 Peerless "Engrave-O-Tints" (590 cards): One original box containing 190 cards in Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt condition as well as two original unopened boxes each containing 200 cards. Also included is an advertising display (measures 11.5 by 10.25 inches) in Vg condition with wear to corners. 6) 1947 Motion Picture Relief Fund "Hollywood Star Stamps" (24 stamps): Two sheets, each containing twelve stamps, still sealed in wax envelope. Overall Nr/Mt condition, including Humphrey Bogart, Gary Cooper, Burt Lancaster, and Robert Taylor. This a tremendous assortment of 1920s to 1940s nonsport cards featuring the most popular entertainers of the era. Total: 1,094 cards and stamps plus one advertising display. Reserve $200.
