1933 R26 Goudey "Boy Scouts" Complete Set (48)
Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $474.00
The extremely colorful "Boy Scouts" set was issued with Goudey’s Some Boy Chewing Gum in 1933. The 48-card set is one of the earliest of all Goudey sets. This set was issued back in the days when the Boy Scouts were a big part of American culture. Each card, measuring 2-1/8 x 3-1/4 inches, features a colorful, extremely detailed artistic image relating to different activities and interests of Boy Scouts, and the detailed reverses provide valuable information ranging from survival techniques to historical lessons. The set is overall in approximately Good condition with a few slightly stronger and a few lesser. Several cards present as Vg to Vg-Ex but are downgraded due to minor glue residue or tiny areas of paper loss on the reverse. This is still a very attractive complete set of one of the 1930s classic nonsport sets. Goudey Boy Scouts cards are rarely offered as a complete set, and are far rarer than the landmark Big League Gum baseball-card series, which was also issued by Goudey in 1933. Total: 48 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $300+.
