Complete set of twenty-five 1889 N230 Kinney Bros. "Famous Running Horses" cards, all graded and encapsulated by SGC (all submitted by REA). Rarely offered high-grade complete set of these extremely popular cards depicting significant race winners, with fifteen cards ranging from Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt, four from Ex-Mt to Ex-Mt+, five from Ex to Ex+, and one Vg-Ex. This is an extremely strong set across the board. The SGC grades are as follows: Two NM/MT 88: Bendigo and The Marquis. Seven NM+ 86: Blair Athol, Galopin, George Frederick, Iroquois, Pretender, Sir Bevys, and Tristan. Six NM 84: Bend Or, Kingcraft, Melton, Ormonde, Robert The Devil, and The Promised Land. One EX/NM+ 82: St. Blaise. Three EX/NM 80: Gladiateur, Macheath, and Shotover. One EX+ 70: Voltiguer. Four EX 60: Caractacus, Dead Heat, Merry Hampton, and Silvio. One VG/EX 50: Cremorne. Each card (1-3/8 x 2-3/4 inches) features a horse and rider against a tan background with their respective names and victories set under a Kinney Bros. High Class Cigarettes ad. The back of each card features a redemption offer for a premium photo of any horse in the series as well as an additional Kinney ad.
